Guess who's back?!

Okay so it's been a year plus since I've blogged. Sorry. It's been a crazy year for both me and wrestling. I've got a lot to say and thank god I've got myself an outlet to do that with. I'm back with my first, and not last, blog of 2011 so here we go.

I want to talk about wrestling superstars. Everyone wants to talk about who is going to have the biggest year in wrestling. I do too, but that's a different blog. Is it Dolph Ziggler? Is it Matt Morgan? Is it Ted Diabiase? Or is it some other black horse candidate we're not considering? Time will tell kids. But I believe last year I did tell you to keep your on The Miz and he is WWE Champion now.

But today I want to discuss the wrestlers who I feel aren't doing so stellar. They have so much potential and just aren't getting their shit together. This could be a bit controversial and I don't care. I welcome your comments. Hell I'll post them on the blog and answer them publicly.

I've broken this down by what show their on and yes we even get a few TNA boys in there too.

Quick thought about CM Punk and Luke Gallows

So CM Punk has been doing this whole storyline of how being straight edge is the way to be. Now in reality whether or not you agree that drug free is the way to be is up for you to decide, but we can all agree I think this methods of conversion probably aren't the best ways to go about it. Personally aside from the Jesus complex he seems to have adopted I like what he is doing but we need to address his new heavy, Luke Gallows.

The former Festus has become the bodyguard for CM Punk. Claiming the whole "Festus" thing was a result of drugs and being enabled by negligent family and friends. Once Punk got him cleaned up he saw the way. But where does that leave his former partner? You know Jesse aka Slam Master J?

It just seems that if they are going to talk about making Luke better and giving him closure and whatnot and show the family and friends they aren't needed and what not where is our payoff match between J and Gallows? Seriously this way overdue. To the point that we're almost pretending they don't even know each other let alone were tag team partners. Now I know I haven't asked this in a while but I'll ask it now...

A few words from Chris Slater

My name is Chris Slater. No, I’m not THE Wrestling Dweeb, but I guess you could say I am A wrestling dweeb. I am a life-long fan of professional wrestling. I’ve been a multi-year fan of blogging, and the ability to combine the two here at the Wrestling Dweeb’s blog is an opportunity I’m very excited about.

I've been a fan of professional wrestling for most of my life. I would say I became "obsessed" around the age of 10 - 1996 - when the nWo and "Monday Night War" was heating up. I was always aware of professional wrestling, and always paid attention when it was on. However, it wasn't until 1996 that I started going out of my way to watch wrestling, buy magazines, rent pay per views, etc...

My first memory of wrestling comes from when I was 4 years old. I remember standing in my grandpa's living room and being completely scared. The Undertaker had attacked the Ultimate Warrior and stuffed him in a casket. I thought the Warrior was going to die. Luckily, the Ultimate Warrior lived to fight another day. Wait, on second thought....

To shed some light on who I am as a wrestling fan, I thought it would be appropriate to discuss my favorite wrestlers and type of wrestlers. I'm not one of the hardcore "wrestler's wrestler" people. I don't hate John Cena because he can't mat wrestle. I do like mat wrestling, but I also like to be entertained.

Pretty much standard for anybody's list of favorites is Ric Flair. I wasn't a huge fan of his until his WWE run starting in 2001, when I had a chance to go back and re-live his career and understand what he had contributed to the wrestling business.

It's not a popular thing to say, but Chris Benoit was definitely one of my favorite wrestlers when I was a kid watching WCW. I may explore that subject more in the future.. For some reason, Sean Waltman (1-2-3 Kid, Syxx, X-Pac) has always been one of my favorite wrestlers. He could go in the ring and he had a charisma that hooked me. Over the years, I've been attracted to the work and characters of Dean Malenko, Stevie Richards, Lance Storm, Chris Jericho, Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, The Rock, etc... It's a varied list. I like a little bit of everybody.

I don't put a lot of stock into what "era" we are currently in in professional wrestling. There are different styles of wrestling, which can be broken down into eras: early 1980's WWE was different than late '80s WWE, which was different than early '90s WWE, which was different than late '90s WWE... are you sensing a pattern?

My favorite would tend to be the only era with an actual name to it - the "Attitude Era," spanning from 1997-ish until early 2001. It wasn't just WWE. I was a huge WCW fan at the time. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but I kept up with ECW back then.

WCW and WWE were both putting out a great product during those years. WCW was rolling ahead with the drama surrounding the nWo and Sting, while WWE was strapped to the shoulders of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and later The Rock.

One of the reasons I think there aren't a lot of definable "eras" in wrestling is because there are no definitive dates attached. Some say the "Attitude Era" began after WrestleMania 13. Others say it began after the 1997 Survivor Series. But, most generally agree that the "Attitude Era" ended on April 1, 2001 - WrestleMania X-7.

WCW had been purchased by WWE only 6 days earlier, and ECW was out of the game. The wrestling world was in a transition period, and the wrestling produced was a different product than what was on the air before WrestleMania X-7, which was headlined by the 2nd of 3 'Mania matches between Steve Austin and The Rock.

What can you expect from me in future posts? I don't expect you to come here for breaking news or general show information. You can do that at several different sites. With me, you'll likely get a lot of random bits you won't find featured anywhere else. I may post a random YouTube clip and talk about it. I'm a huge fan of wrestling trivia and may throw some out there or have a contest of some sort.

I will give you a preview of a couple blogs - I recently read Hulk Hogan's and Rey Mysterio's autobiographies and will review those. I have the book "Chris and Nancy," a look at the 2007 Benoit double-murder suicide by Irv Muchnick. I haven't read it yet, but will soon and hopefully get a few words posted about it. Also, since this decade is over, I want to look at five wrestlers who were poised to be huge stars this decade (based on their performaces in 2000-2001), but wound up not making as huge an impact as they'd like.

2010 Rising Star predictions (part 2)

To call this my most ambitious blog to date is an understatement. To sit and write about 22 wrestling superstars is nothing short of daunting. Especially when I get distracted really easily by my X-Box and twitter. And yes if you guys tweet me questions I will answer them in my blogs.

So here it is, the TNA edition of who to watch in 2010. Unfortunately for the timing of this blog some of the statements I have written about certain superstars I have had to rethink due to events that have already happened in 2010. However the 10 I initially picked are the 10 I am staying with in this blog.

#10 - Desmond Wolfe

It's like he said, it started with a handshake. I still remember what it was like when he took those sunglasses off, smiled turned around and beat the hell out of Kurt Angle. A couple of awesome matches later and ladies and gentlemen we have ourselves a boneafide main eventer. Where the British Invasion I feel come off (at times) looking like a couple of comedians, Wolfe comes off looking intense and dangerous. Which is something we've lacked in our heels in a while. Sure we have Samoa Joe who is intense ALWAYS, but Wolfe is a little bit different. He's some new blood, a breath of fresh air, in short just what we needed on the heel side of the roster. I had the pleasure of both seeing him wrestle and meeting him. Thought he was rather nice and that night in that ring I became a definite Wolfe fan. Is he the complete main event package? No. But he's not that far off either. If the end of 2010 is any indication there is nothing but big things in store for Desmond Wolfe in 2010.

#9 - Kiyoshi

You see these guys have their video packages introducing us to these new guys and where they come from and what they're all about. In these packages we learned that Homicide once wrestled with a tampon in a bullet wound so he could compete. We learned all about how Robert Roode went through in Canada to be a superstar. We even learned that Jim Cornette though Vince McMahon was an idiot on how he handled and later fired Matt Morgan. But Kiyoshi's video was a little bit different. We had the usual praise from his peers but what his video had was what the other videos seemed to lack. Star power. Kiyoshi got the rub from none other than "The Icon" Sting. STING!!! Sting put this kid over and told us all to watch him. For the early part of 2009 it was easy to do just that. But then he joined the World Elite and he's become more of a punchline than anything. So maybe I don't have the video evidence to back up anything I might have to say on the subject, but trust me. I have seen enough of this kid's matches to know that if we just stand back and let him be him, that you are going to amazed. Future X-Division Champion for certain. Future tag team champion, if they can find a partner to keep up with him. Future World Champion? Well nobody ever thought Rey Mysterio would be the heavyweight champion but he did it. All I'm saying is I'd start buying stock in Kiyoshi.

#8 - Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

Quick quiz hotshots, who are the most talented team in TNA today? Beer Money? Sure they're entertaining as hell and aren't afraid to kick your ass. Team 3D? Solid arguement. They've got the experience, the continuity and the staying power. That's a hard trio to top. British Invasion? Sure. To be the best you got to beat the best, and if you're holding the gold then you've beaten the best. So the tag team titles alone could be all the proof you need. But what team consistently gets the pops, even when they are not faces? What tag team manages to find a way onto TV even without having any matches? What tag team by their mere presence on screen can bring a smile to your face before a word is said? That's right. The guns. They've got that unique offense that their opponents find hard to prepare for or to counter once they're in the ring. They've got that charisma that just screams champion caliber superstars. And they're even so good on the mic that if they tell you they're going to win, 9 times out of 10 you will believe it. Have they been in numerous singles matches for titles and title shots? Yes they have. Have they been in several matches for tag titles and tag title shots? Yes they have. So why is 2010 any different? Because there comes that time in every career where something big has to happen or something big has to change. Therefore the way I see it either the guns have to win the TNA Tag Team Championship AND/OR the IWGP Tag Team Championship by year's end or it is time for them to think about breaking up the band. I think this is a solid team and could easily carry the tag division, but if we keep putting our X-Division guys in tag teams and then do nothing with them we're hurting 2 divisions at once. Please either let these guys carry the ball or let them rebuild the X-Division, and yes I believe they could do it.

#7 - "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels

I think Daniels has gotten the short end of a lot of sticks in TNA over his career. I feel like he has deserved so much better than he has been given. Not that he should be given anything, yes he should earn it as much as anyone should, but I feel he earned his a long time ago. I've watched Daniels from from the old NESN days feuding with Elix Skipper to his Spike TV earlier days feuding with Joe and Styles. Getting fired and coming back as Curry Man and jobbing out near the end of that run. Coming back again as Suicide when Kaz got hurt only to get entered into a feud with Suicide when Kaz came back and again it went nowhere. Now he lost a match to determine "the greatest wrestler ever". I thought Kurt Angle said that was him but I guess that's another story. Bottom line is this. In my own personal opinion, Daniels is better than Styles. He's quicker. He is more charisimatic. He is just overall a better performer. And he deserves a lot better than he has been given. I think TNA finally started doing something right when they let him go back to being a heel and let him do what he does best, talk some shit and be an asshole. Because he can back it up. And they continued to do right when they put him in the main event scene of a couple of pay per views. Now giving him 10 seconds of TV time on the most important night in the company, maybe that's not so smart, but maybe we can make up for it. I say let him go a few months without losing a match. Build up a nice little bit of momentum for himself. THEN you let him show you what a legitimate threat to the world title looks like. Just remember don't call it a comeback. He's been here for years.

#6 - Hamada

Okay so let's have it. The fact that Hamada is the only woman on this list must PROVE that I'm more of a TNA fan. Again I must state that I am a proud member of both the WWE Universe AND TNAtion. Superfan if you will. Ayoko Hamada impressed me the first night she arrived in TNA. A hardcore match with Daffney which ended with Hamada moonsaulting herself through a table for the win. Damn impressive. Bringing the fight to people's faces that she has a beef with ? Rare. So go ahead Chris, tell us why she's so awesome! I can't do that. Because Hamada is 100% intangible. I don't know what it is that makes her so awesome. But you watch her style, you watch her move and you know you have something very unique in this one. And yes I think she could throw down with the men too, as she has already proven. It will not take long for the world to notice this one and I am glad I got her autograph, so I can say I got it BEFORE she was a household name.

#5 - Suicide

So next to wrestling my other big love is video games. (Anyone want to come play Halo 3 with me? I've also got ODST). And it is not often that I have gotten to play a guy in a wrestling video game BEFORE I've seen him in a wrestling ring. Yes I had seen Frankie (Kaz) Kazarian several times in the ring but not Suicide. "The Dark Savior" as it were. My big complaint about Suicide? His finishing move. The Suicide Solution. In the video game it was the D.O.A., why did they change it? I hope it was a good reason because I'm sure Kaz can do the move. Personal note, I miss Kaz as himself because I always marked out for the move just because it was called The Flux Capacitor. They have done a good job of taking Suicide and turning him from a video game character into a full fledged superstar. Now in 2010 let's see how far they can take this unique individual.

#4 - Jesse Neal

Okay I won't lie to you. I'm not a Neal fan. BUT I do like him more NOW then I did when we first met him. He's more badass now. More smashmouth as they say. In wrestling one of the most important things is to always make your talent look their best. Having Jesse Neal be a little whiny bitch every week does not a superstar make. Turning him into a badass wrecking machine. MUCH BETTER. They've parterned him up with the Dudleys (Team 3D) and Rhino, and if they can keep that foursome together long enough, this kid's career is going to sky rocket.

#3 - Hernandez

I find it a little bit annoying that we split up a tag team that had become a main stay of TNA like LAX, reportedly to give both guys singles careers (that's why Salinas left, she didn't want to get lost in the shuffle), only to take one half of those guys and put them into ANOTHER tag team. It's almost a middle finger to his old partner. But these are just personal bitchings I suppose. But then again it is my blog. The entire wrestling world thought when he opened his Feast or Fired case and showed the world he had a World Title shot that it was only a matter of time before Supermex became TNA Heavyweight Champion. When he started bulldozing through people like they were nothing, it seemed like the days were counting down. And then he got his "shot" (kinda), and bam, nothing. No title win. And no title matches since. Sean Hernandez may just be one of the top three best big men in TNA. He can move, he can fly, and he can kick your ass. It's not common to see a big man who can do those things. And after all this time I still don't know what it means when he says "Tu Gusto or no". My money is on "like it or not". But nobody has corrected me so far.

#2 - "The Pope" D'angelo Dinero

Now Taz and Tenay may never call him by his true name. However, this is a blog. And I'm not a wrestling insider. I'm not fucking Dave Meltzer or some shit. I say what I want, about who I want, when I want. And I am a big ELIJAH BURKE fan. I wasn't that crazy for this character when he first arrived in TNA. I was like "why can't he just be himself?" A lot of people already knew who this guy was. From his OVW days and his stint in ECW as the leader of the New Breed and his AWESOME matches with C.M. Punk. Shit did I just reference a WWE superstar in a TNA blog? Dammit. Hell even Vince McMahon named Burke the future of ECW. Guess not Vince. Maybe you shouldn't have fired him. Unfortunately if we are to believe YouTube and frankly when has the internet ever lied, Burke's best moment was when he leaped off the top rope and Batista caught him, speared him and powerbombed him in one move. Yes it was awesome but far from Burke's best moment. Now he's a street preacher. Peddling his products and being all pimp like. It's awesome. He's got a moveset unlike any other, he's got more charisma than almost anybody in the locker room, and most importantly maybe, he can connect with an audience. It won't be long until he's involved in many, many big matches. And 2010 is where that all starts.

#1 - "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan

I would like to tell you that I have seen every one of Morgan's matches. Every interview. Every fluid motion. This is not the case. I may be a wrestling dweeb but there is still only so much that I know. I first glimpsed the future Blueprint on a little show called Tough Enough. A lot of people are chuckling at that title alone. Like nothing good ever came of that show? Sure. Okay. Except for The Miz, John Morrison, Melina, and oh yeah, Matt Morgan. Did Matt win Tough Enough, the million dollars and go on to instant stardom? No. He got hurt halfway through the show and was advised against continuing on. But once he was better he was in OVW and later in WWE. One stupid stuttering gimmick later, lousy use creatively, and he is gone. Matt Hardy once said if creative can't write something good for the wrestlers they should fire the creative guys not the wrestlers. I agree. The first time I saw Morgan wrestle an actual match he was part of Team Cage at Lockdown. I was surprised that Morgan didn't get the pinfall despite his team winning. They had done so much to build him up for that match I thought he would make an immediate impact (no pun intended) by winning the match for his team. Now there aren't many things in wrestling that make me react out loud but everytime he puts his foot down the throat of an opponent with the Carbon Footprint I do. Watching him do that kick is like Beetlejuice watching The Excorist. It just keeps on getting (better) every single time I see it! Morgan is the future of this business. He can and will do for TNA what The Rock did for the WWE. He will make it must watch tv. He will become the face of the company, and the one everybody tunes in to watch. He will become a mega star someday and all of us can say that we were watching him back when. When he was the bodyguard for Jim Cornette, the tag partner of Abyss, the young buck who wanted to be in the Main Event Mafia and now as the 7 foot, fire breathing giant who wants nothing more than to be TNA Heavyweight Champion. TNA always says it tries to do right by its fans. To give them what they want. Listen to the crowd response when Morgan comes out on each and every show. It is louder than anyone else on the roster *EDIT: At least it was before Hogan showed up but c'mon that's Hogan*. Morgan legitimately loves his fans. He loves the business and his company. He even made TNA history by becoming only the 2nd guy to sign a 5 year contract. Here's hoping he serves out all 5 happily and very healthy, and then he signs 5 more if they treat him right. 2010 will be the year I finally get what I've been wishing for, for months now. Matt Morgan as the TNA Heavyweight Champion. I could think of no better time or place than Bound For Glory 2010. I want Hogan v Nash, and Morgan v ..I don't care, and Morgan wins the Heavyweight Title. You want to see intensity? You want to see domination? You want to see aggression? And you want to see pure untapped potential and someone who was just born to wrestle? Look no further than your future TNA Heavyweight Champion, "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan.

2010 Rising Star predictions (part 1)

Ok I am back with another blog. I haven't had the most time in the world to sit down and think about what I want to say. Truth be told I sit here with my Tweetdeck open and tweet pro-wrestlers all day. It's a pretty sweet existence. Most of them write back and answer my questions which is cool. Maybe one of them would submit to an interview for my blog. Now THAT would be awesome.

It's the end of the year and I thought while other websites and blogs are talking about who had the best year and best matches I thought I would look ahead to 2010 and predict who I see having the best year.

Now I've gone ahead and selected 22 superstars (because I counted tag teams together), that's 11 spread out over Raw, ECW and Smackdown. The other 11 has come from TNA. That is on purpose because that way both companies get equal time. I have watched WWF/WWE since I was a little boy, however I have also watched TNA for 5 1/2 of the 7 years of it's existence because that's how long I was aware of them. I consider myself both a member of the WWE universe and the TNAtion. Conflict of interest? Perhaps. But I am a wrestling fan. I like to be entertained and both products, in their way, entertain me. Last time I checked that was my right.

Now I didn't select superstars who I'd felt had stellar pasts. Nobody I'd consider currently in the Main Event. I think it would be foolish to sit here and guess that Undertaker and Kurt Angle will both have awesome years next year. I kind of consider that a given. So obviously I went with the individuals who I feel has their stock on the rise and are about to break through that glass ceiling. The ones who I personally feel have all the tools they need to be big stars. And yes it could be argued that some of the names on this list already are big stars. Unfortunately I think such things are subjective. It's up to us to determine who the big stars are. I had a chance this month to talk with both Desmond Wolfe and Matt Morgan and I considered that to be a pretty deal. Huge actually. But to the casual wrestling fan maybe they've never heard of these guys. So maybe in 2010 I feel that will change. That the average fan suddenly knows what a big deal it is when someone falls victim to the Tower of London, the Carbon Footprint or the Lie Detector.

So here we go.

So we will start with the flagship of the WWE, Monday Night Raw. Now I did not put these superstars in any order other than the order I thought of them.

He's The Miz and he's...the first person on my list. He's also your United States champion. It seems like since he went to ECW all them years ago that he became a big deal. Started out in a 3 way feud between Johnny Nitro and CM Punk over the ECW title. Which later ended in them teaming together and then the rest is history. Now he's on Monday Night Raw where he (allegedly) had 7 straight wins over John Cena. A lot of people don't give The Miz his proper due. He's loud. He's obnoxious. He shoots his mouth off. He doesn't care. Plus he can be very infuriating. Guess what? You just described a lot of guys when they are first coming up. Remember The Rock? Remember John Cena circa 2003? Remember any number of guys that started out just like The Miz did only to become some of the biggest stars in the business? Am I saying that The Miz will be that big? Time will tell I suppose. But as far as 2010 I think you're going to see a big star in the making. And no, I never thought I'd see myself type that but I can't ignore him any longer.

If you've never seen Evan Bourne wrestle. Don't blink. This kid is fast and he is just a joy to watch. He got something like 80% of the vote at Cyber Sunday 2008 to face then ECW champion Matt Hardy. Awesome match. One I felt was one of the best of the year, from any organization. He moved to Monday Night Raw in the last draft and put on a great showing against Randy Orton. He may not have won but he definitely showed he should not be trifled with either. Lately he's just been in go nowhere feuds and random matches. And now they got him teaming up with Primo. I'm not sure if this is to hold Bourne back even further since they've been doing nothing with Primo since he lost the Unified Tag Team championship or if this is their way of creating a hot new tag team. Either way being in the ring with a team like Legacy can only spell good things. Also, with talent like this kid possesses you can't ignore it and you can't restrain it. Unless you're deliberately trying to kill someone's potential. And that's just plain wrong.

Okay sure he won the tag team titles with CM Punk, he won the United States championship & the Intercontinental championship already. Sure it could be argued that his star has risen already. But I disagree. Kind of. Kofi has always to me been kind of a random superstar. When he first broke into ECW he went undefeated for quite a little run and it was cool. But then Shelton Benjamin beat him, and since that time it almost seemed random when he would win a match, like he couldn’t get any momentum. Yeah they would tell us how awesome he was and we would cheer but it didn’t seem like his career really mattered to them. Then he entered this feud with Randy Orton. And yeah we all remember The Boom Drop at Madison Square Garden, and yes that was frickin awesome. But so what? Yeah he pinned Orton, but it was on a fast count from Mark Cuban. He lost the rematch in that series. So how will Kofi’s career bounce back from this? I don’t know. But he is an amazing talent and I just get this feeling that as far as WWE goes, this could be Kofi’s year.

Okay so I wasn’t able to get pictures of these guys and I’m sorry for that. But all three people I’ve selected from the land of extreme are all part of the new superstar initiative. Those people are as follows.

One’s got that raw power, one has the speed and charisma and the young tag team at the end has a lot to prove and seem dead set on proving it. Very excited to see what these three can bring to the table in 2010.

What's up? R-Truth's career. I really found it hard to ignore the fact that he came in with so much hype and the fans were behind him so strongly and they voted him in the United States Championship match at Cyber Sunday 2008. The very last installment of Cyber Sunday I may add. All the fans wanted him to beat, then champion, Shelton Benjamin. But he didn't win. Maybe they were afraid that his star would rise too quickly and he would surpass more established stars. Which I think is bullshit but it happens. Welcome to wrestling politics 101. Take nothing away from Shelton. He's a hell of a competitor and I'm a big fan. But that's not the issue here. R-Truth has that 'it' factor. He can give great interviews, he puts on awesome matches and he connects with the fans in a big way. Maybe the WWE is finally starting to see this and next year will R-Truth finally winning some gold and showing what a true champion he can be.

You want to see a picture of potential? A picture of future world champions and hall of famers? You’re looking at it right there. These guys are awesome. They are every bit as good as they say they are. Too early to tell if they will win the tag team titles in before the end of 2010 but I will bet that they will be involved in some pretty high profile matches. Quote me on it.

Seriously. No I mean it. Seriously. Could you ask for a better introduction than by being introduced by the boss as a future world champion? That’s like a guarantee. The chosen one Drew McIntyre has already won the Intercontinental Championship from John Morrison. However I do not think for one second that his career will stall in mid-card/upper card status, I feel it really is only a matter of time before he is a solid main eventer. And that time could come very quickly and be 2010.

So those are my picks for the 2010 rising stars of the WWE. Coming soon are my TNA predictions.

WWE announces a few future guest hosts

The WWE has announced the next few special guest RAW hosts.

On November 30 it will be Verne Troyer. Somehow I think this will play into the "Little People's Court" featuring Hornswoggle and DX.

On December 7 it will be the owner of the Dallas Mavericks Mark Cuban.

On December 14 it will be a special 3 hour RAW as the Slammy Awards return. The special host that night will be none other than Dennis Miller.

On a personal note I everyone is enjoying their holiday today. That is if it is a holiday for you. Otherwise I hope you're just being healthy and safe.

Random Notes and Survivor Series predictions

First post in quite a while but thought I would weigh in with a few thoughts. Enjoy. Or not. Whatever.

So one of the last blogs I wrote I stated to TNA I wanted less Cody Deaner and more Daniels. In that time Daniels has been pushed to the main event and the last time I saw Deaner he was losing to Desmond in about 10 seconds. Not bad when you consider 3 seconds of that is the pinfall. Now we just take Deaner off tv and refigure the character to some less of a douchebag and we might be good.

While we're on the subject of Desmond am I the only one who noticed that one week he spells his last name W-O-L-F and the next it's W-O-L-F-E ? C'mon people can we pick a spelling and stick with it? Not really feeling this character. Seems like we get the interview every single week. Same script and all. Feels like a watered down clone of Drew MacIntyre.

So The Hurricane beat Paul Burchill and now he (and his sister) have to leave ECW. Pity because I thought he would have made an awesome ECW champion. I love Christian and all but if Zach Ryder had won the title that'd have been an awesome push for such an awesome talent ditto Burchill had ever had the opportunity. Maybe now he can go to Smackdown and show Dolph Ziggler how to win a championship. Ziggler has been after that title for literally months first with Mysterio and now with Morrison. Prior to that he was chasing the US title with then champion MVP. Persistence is key my friends.

Here are my quick predictions for tonight's Fall Classic, Survivor Series. Just a rundown of who I think will win.

Couple of quick notes

Tonight's guest host is none other than Trish Stratus. I'm very excited about this. I've been a big Trish Stratus fan since she first showed up in WWE many years ago. Followed her throughout the managing of Test and Albert, right up to the love triangle of her, Chris Jericho and Christian. I was very excited a few months back when she made a surprise return for one night to fight with Cena against Glamarella. I thought last week they did something awesome with Bob Barker and The Price Is Raw and I think this week they have a chance to capitalize big time.

Beth Phoenix is always saying she's the most dominant diva in WWE history. Personally I say until she beats Trish Stratus she doesn't quite get that nod.

Batista will also be on hand for an announcement that they have saying could be a career changing event. They are trying to make us think he will retire. Maybe he will. Maybe he won't. Personally I hope he doesn't but I would understand if he would.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Okay I don't have anything for him but I had this picture and wanted an excuse to use it so deal with it.

Mysterio violates the wellness policy?

There apparently is some controversy on the internet regarding Rey Mysterio. It is reported that he violated the wellness policy and is serving a 30 day suspension as per the rules of the program. Mysterio is calling foul and saying it's all a misunderstanding and that he didn't violate the policy. It's also being reported that he's lost the Intercontinental Championship. The following is a repost from 1wrestling.com and was written by the head editor and wrestling journalist Bill Apter.

Many fans have emailed me, shocked that the WWE has a huge news item on their main page (with a photo) regarding Rey Mysterio Jr.'s suspension that went in effect today. The suspension is for 30 days and it's for a "violation of the wellness policy."

Due to the fact that Mysterio felt this suspension was an error in communication between his doctors and the wellness committee -- and blasted that fact in a Mexican Newspaper (the story was subsequently picked up by news services all over the world. The feeling in the wrestling communityis that this item being highlighted on the WWE site is some sort of punishment. I can neither confirm or deny this at this time -- however this is the first WWE Superstar that has gotten this kind of treatment to my knowledge. Most suspensions are simply a line or two in their "Latest News" sections. This was the case since last week but today it made it into the main news section.

Any further details will be posted as they become available.

Big news!

I've been spending a lot of time over at The Wrestling Forum. Making a couple of new friends and it's basically become my second home online. No shortage of wrestling topics to talk about and non-wrestling as well. And a few of the higher ups of the site have seen this blog and they really enjoy it and asked if I would be interested in becoming a weekly columnist on the site and I said yes.

And the first column is up now!

You can read it here. I hope all of you will drop in and see what I have to say in the column I'm very proud of it and every week when the new column is up I will link you all up on my blog to go see it. Because I will not be posting the column on this blog, it is a seperate venture.

So earlier this week I was very critical of Monday Night Raw from last week when Sgt. Slaughter guest hosted. I told them in no uncertain terms that the biggest party of the summer SummerSlam (I thought was Summerfest?) was just around the corner and business definitely had to pick up. Unfortunately I'm just one guy and they don't give a rat's ass what I think but oh well, this is my blog and I will write what I damn well want to. I got even more to say about this week's RAW than last week's RAW. When watching it I actually took notes. I never do that but this time I wanted to be sure I didn't forget anything. Strap in, this could take a little while.

First and foremost my apologies to one Freddie Prinze Jr. I was not excited when I heard he was hosting, in fact I groaned out loud. This is not a reflection on him as an actor but I just did not think he had the charisma to be able to entertain a live crowd. Secondly he's a WWE employee so I kind of felt cheated in this selection. However he was charismatic, in the segment with Santino he was funny, and I was quite impressed with the neckbreaker he took from Randy Orton. I was kind of worried when they took him out of the show so quickly that he might try to come back the next week as a host to try and do all the things he wanted to do but I like the way he came back at the end and did to Orton what Orton did to Jeremy Piven, what with making the lumberjack match and all. I actually think Prinze's performance was one of the highlights of the show and I will admit when I am wrong. And I was wrong to be critical before I saw how he did. So for that to all of you, and to Freddie (I doubt he'll ever see this though), I am sorry.

Okay so the main event on last week's Superstars was a mixed tag between Mickie James and Kofi Kingston against Carlito and Rosa Mendes. I wasn't surprised at the pairings but I was actually surprised that Kofi got pinned by Carlito. So this Monday Night there was a United States Championship match between Carlito and Kofi. Kofi retained his title but this was the first title match in some time that I was 100% convinced the title would change hands. Carlito is red hot right now. Nice lengthy run first as a WWE Tag Team Champion and then further as the Unified Tag Team Champion, a couple of awesome of matches with Primo, an awesome showing in the 6-Pack Challenge at the Night of Champions and now a win over Kofi Kingston in a tag match. Why wouldn't I think Carlito would win this match? Because Kofi is also red-hot right now. This was a very solid match and has the potential to be quite the feud, I hope when next month roles around we are treated to a longer pay per view match between these two for the title. It feels like we've not done as much with the United States Title on RAW as we could, so maybe it's time we change that.

So let's talk about Rosa Mendes for a moment.

So she was the random tag team partner for Carlito last Thursday. And because of that she's his on-screen girlfriend now? Is that all it takes in wrestling? One match and we're together? Is that how you show someone you like them? This had absolutely no back story and it feels more than anything like a weak (and frankly unnecessary) way to split the friendship up of her and Beth Phoenix. Also is this a Mexican thing? Is WWE playing scratch and sniff with it's employees? These two match like that so put them together? What the hell man? Matching divas up with superstars is nothing new in wrestling but at least we're usually given a courtesy reason.

He's THE MIZ and he's ...

I can't bring myself to say it. Probably because I don't believe it. I don't care how successful he becomes he will always be that loser reality show guy that was on Smackdown cowering from The Undertaker and Chris Benoit. Rightfully so I would have cowered too but that's not the point. So he takes on Evan Bourne and beats him without mercy. Bourne did not get a whole lot of offense in which is not standard in a Bourne match.

You know Legacy have a t-shirt that says "Born Better", I got one for you though "Bourne Better" as in Bourne deserves much better than he was treated this past Monday. A number of weeks ago he pinned Kofi Kingston. Unlike Carlito Bourne did not receive a title shot. And when Big Show was placed into the tag team match at Night of Champions and Primo got his spot instead of Evan Bourne, I was not happy. Bourne is main event caliber. I think they are trying to hold him down and frankly I'm upset by it. Give him a good feud, give him a nice lengthy title reign, plant this kid as a seed and watch how big he blooms. But no! Instead we're "treated" to more Miz. Maybe he could invade ECW and Abraham Washington could interview him and I could nap for about 10 minutes.

The DX reunion. Yay! What's this like the 7th or 8th time they're reunited? It's kind of like The Undertaker coming back from the dead, no matter how many times it happens it's always an event. I'm a big DX fan and was happy they were back together and that HBK was back. And I don't want to hear that he didn't even connect with Sweet Chin Music to Santino, because he was wearing cowboy boots and probably would have seriously hurt Santino. I was kind of worried for their Summerslam opponents. Because I figured that DX would come out and do their insults and make Legacy look ridiculous and then beat them silly at Summerslam (seriously it's not SummerFest?) and they'd be horribly buried, especially after all the time they've spent building Legacy up as a good team, which they are. It didn't quite happen that way.

Instead Legacy jumped them and kicked their asses. Cutting this little reunion down to about 3 minutes. This was exactly what they should have done. To show DX they are not intimidated and that they are definitely in their league. A win over DX this Sunday would be huge. I'm putting my money down on DX but would love it to no end if I was proved wrong this Sunday. These guys are bonafide superstars and it's only a matter of a couple of years before we see some serious gold on their waists. And I mean singles gold. And practically beating HHH and HBK to death with their own shoe? How Wayne's World 2 was that?

Okay so Mickie James retained her title over Gail Kim. She hit her with his impressive spin kick which knocked Gail out and then followed it up with an elbow to the jaw for the victory. Now I have a very large TV that I sit pretty much right in front of (small room) to watch all my wrestling on and I can tell you all with absolute certainty that the spin kick never connected to Gail. She didn't miss her by much but she never touched her with her foot or leg. So, what's the story? It seemed like this match ended in a big hurry for no apparent reason. Is this going to James' new thing? Knocking her opponents out? Is this going to be some new violent streak we see in her? Are we getting the old crazy Mickie back? Time will tell. What do you guys think?

Josh Mathews should never interview on RAW. Not because he's not good at it but because he's the announcer on ECW. I feel like it kind of demeans his role on ECW to see him backstage interviewing folks. We don't have a shortage of people to do this. Maybe it's a minor bitch but again this is my blog and I'll say what I want.

You want to put Mark Henry with Hornswoggle for comedy purposes? Fine. I'm ok with that. But I think he should be wearing green not red. I think it would add to the humor.

Floyd "Money" Mayweather is going to host RAW next week. Will we be treated to another Wrestlemania moment with him and The Big Show? Probably which is unfortunate since Mayweather has nothing to prove. What would be great is if we had a moment with "Money" and MVP. Because they are both, straight up, BALLIN'! That would be great. But it won't happen.

Closing thoughts.

HOLY SHIT JAMIE NOBLE WAS ON RAW! I was as surprised as all of you because I didn't know he still had a job either. Which raises the very important question.

Can Evan Karagias be far behind? Okay so it wasn't that important.

So RAW was infinitely better this week than it was last week. But I still don't feel it was the over the top, go-home, show that they needed before such an important event. Maybe I don't know all the things that they should have done but I can damn sure recognize the things that could have been better. I will watch SummerSlam this Sunday with great interest. But I definitely feel Smackdown has the matches I want to see.

Seriously, last week's RAW, what the fuck?

Okay I've had a week to sit and stew about this. Last week's RAW had to be one of the worst shows they have put on this year. In all fairness I was half asleep when I watched it but from what people have said on the net about it, it certainly doesn't seem that much was missed on my part from being unable to be fully awake when I saw it. I did take some notes and will share those with you now.

First the positive.

The opening match was Beth Phoenix vs Alicia Fox.vs Kelly Kelly, vs Gail Kim in a #1 contenders match for the Diva's Title. This was a solid match. The action was good, it took the right amount of time and it even made all 4 competitors look like strong contenders to the title. This is not only awesome to see in a multi-person match such as this but it is also a rarity. Hands down this was my favorite match of the night. The sad part was that considering Chris Jericho was in action it was only a distant second to this for me.

The talk piece that started the show with WWE Champion Randy Orton and the #1 contender John Cena with Cena telling Orton that he "270 pounds of problem staring you right in the face", was a great piece. I bought Cena's emotion and really believed he's had enough of Randy Orton's bs and was ready to do something about. This brings out the Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho and The Big Show (Jerishow?) to announce that they both had individual singles matches against them (Orton against Show and Y2J against Cena). This segment I think to a degree was something special, because you had 4 former world champions all in the ring at the same time. All four of them have their own respective resumes. All four of them do great interviews, in my opinion. However, this segment dragged on way too long and I felt not only my interest in it, but also felt all the emotion they had built it up with was completely drained out by the time it was over. I haven't wanted a segment to end as badly as that since the first Abraham Washington Show.

Remember kids, those were the positive comments. Now here's where I get to ask the big question:

Seriously RAW: What the fuck?!

The Calgary Kid vs Eugene? Great I was actually happy to see Eugene. Little disappointed that Mr. Dinsmore didn't get to be himself but hey I've always been a Eugene fan and appreciate the comic relief. I even thought he and Hornswoggle could have some classic moments. Instead it turns into a lame ass match, and a lame ass excuse for The Miz to return to RAW. I agree with other bloggers who have said Miz could have had better feuds back in ECW or on Smackdown. Sorry Eugene, maybe another time.

MVP vs Chris Masters. Nice rematch but either their heart wasn't in it or mine wasn't. But it seemed that they were just going through the motions. However it was nice to see MVP pick up a win, it does seem like it's been a while.

Swagger vs Evan Bourne. I'm a big Bourne fan. Have been since his debut match. I'd heard about this kid for a long time and it was exciting to finally see him in action. However I hate Jack Swagger. How much so? I'd rather watch Cody Deaner *shudder*. Swagger is boring. Boring on the mic, boring in the ring, boring in appearance. He reminds me of the brother of an ex-girlfriend and trust me that doesn't help his case any. Christian hit it on the head when he called him a "dork". Looks like MVP vs Swagger will happen. Too bad I don't care. Especially since I think MVP will get buried. Pity really. MVP came out debuting on RAW after the draft looking really strong against Randy Orton. I thought it would be only a matter of time before MVP got his title shot, which he never did. Hell Mark Henry pinned Randy Orton his first night on the show and never got his shot. I guess we're just supposed to ignore these facts..

But none of these left as bad a taste in my mouth, as this gentleman.

WWE Hall of Famer, former WWE champion Sgt. Slaughter! Ten-hut maggot!

I was so excited when I heard he was hosting RAW. Someone who wouldn't take Orton's abuse as Piven had done the week prior. I thought hell he and Randy could have a match together and though Orton would have won Slaughter could kick some ass for old times sake. It would have been great. Instead all we get is him insulting Canada's flag, Jillian Hall's awful singing and a tease of Bret Hart. Such a fucking waste of Slaughter.

RAW seriously what the fuck?

Slaughter is better than this. The entire roster is better than this. Okay Swagger isn't but the rest of them are. Summerslam is this Sunday. You have to really sell this show, we're not going to shell out the big money for this big show based on it's name and history. You have to really drive it home to us that we cannot miss this show. ECW and Smackdown had great offerings this week but RAW did less than phone it in. So come on! Kick it up a few hundred notches and go all out. This is your last chance RAW to really convince me that Summerslam is worth the money and that RAW isn't completely going down the shitter. At least tonight's guest host is at least someone with a lot of charmisa who deserves to be on tv.

Some thoughts on TNA

Another pay per view has come and gone and I thought I'd chime in with a few thoughts of my own.

I thought the show was okay. It neither stank out loud nor was it exceptional. They've done better but I've seen them do much, much worse. Basically put I saw this show for free and got my money worth. It did however leave me with some questions in my mind and this being my blog I thought I would share them with the world. So here I go.

Cody Deaner. God fucking why? I hate everything about this character. He is by far not only the worst thing in TNA but perhaps all of wrestling. I would rather watch an hour of Abraham Washington's lame-ass attempts than have to hear "giver" one more time. His character, lame. The way he was brought into the company, lame. The fanny pack, it's a little funny. But only a little. You know Larry The Cable Guy is a very funny guy but I wouldn't make him a wrestler, and neither should have TNA. And now he's looking like the TNA Knockouts Champion? You know Andy Warhol may have once said that everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame. Clearly not all are worthy. I'd say Mr. Deaner just passed the 14 minute and 35 second mark on his 15 minutes. There is a reason why in my daily life a "Deaner" has come to mean all things awful and lame. They should be ashamed of themselves in regards to all things Deaner. From the awful "win a date with ODB" (or whatever it was called) right down to "giver" right down again to what happened tonight at Hard Justice.

I don't know if there is a superstar who has had as much push lately than Hernandez. A very surprising, but deserved, win over Samoa Joe a few weeks back and he got the briefcase back tonight at Hard Justice. Personally I think that aspect of it was stupid. The briefcase didn't belong to The British Invasion, it was Hernandez's. He was (and is) the recognized owner of the case and therefore some authority figure should have stepped in and taken it back long before now. Nobody even tried. Sure Jarrett is out minding personal business and Foley is busy of his own the last few weeks (more on that in a bit) but ladies and gentlemen there is Jim Cornette. One of the strongest authority personalities TNA has ever had. Is he even still in the company? I'm not even sure but I almost hope he isn't just because I hate how they've been not even using such an awesome presence such as Jim Cornette. The moments he shared with Mick Foley when he first showed up. Priceless. But back to my idea about Hernandez. Great you've given him 2 big profile wins over 2 of the biggest guys in the company. Now what? Will he trade in his shot against Kurt Angle? Does anyone think TNA will give Hernandez the world title ? Time will tell I suppose. Can anyone tell me what "Te Gusto or no" means? Am I even spelling this right?

I ain't go nothing bad to say about the DNA of TNA. Matt Morgan is simply put, my favorite TNA performer. He's got the look, he's got the charisma, he's got the IT factor. I've said it for 2 years now that Morgan should be the face of the company. He could be that memorable superstar like The Rock or Stone Cold. The kind of guy who when his music hits you know someone is about to get hurt. Putting him in the main event of a pay per view for the world title, that's a great step in the right direction. Morgan has proved himself in big match situations before and I think it is time for Dixie Carter and company to give him the ball and not only sees how far he runs with it but how much ass he kicks along the way.

I had my money wrong. Twice. First I picked Foley to win. Foolish perhaps but I'm a die hard Foley fan so I can never really bet against him even when I suspect he will lose. Secondly I thought that this match would steal the show. In my eyes that honor goes to Team 3D vs Steiner and Booker. In no way is that fight over. But Mick. He continues to work his ass off to still try to be the best and I love and respect that about him. And what happened with his eye, that was just sick. You want the definition of a legend, Mick and Nash. Damn right!

So you've lost your knockouts title and pinned someone in a meaningless four way match. Tara do you even care about your career? Seriously? You need to get back in the ring and kick someones ass, even if it's Deaner. Okay especially Deaner. But actually use some of that momentum that you had in TNA once upon a time instead of letting it fizzle out.

And finally, Kurt Angle. I must say I am surprised. Not by the fact that he tried to get Morgan to help him in the show, but the fact that Angle even made it to the show. Angle was in jail as recently as a couple of days ago. Stalking his girlfriend to the point of standing outside of a coffee shop making her nervous so that she had to call the cops. People weren't even sure he would be at the show, I didn't even know of his arrest until just before the show so I didn't have time to report on it myself. I'll try to have more information in the coming days. I would just think that maybe a title change would be in order to take some heat off the company. Sting is retiring after Bound for Glory so going out the World Champion not a bad deal for him. And of course my main man Matt Morgan has all the momentum right now and definitely would have done great things as the champion and will do great things as the champion when he gets that strap. So Kurt whatever it is you think you're doing. Stop. Focus on what you do best, wrestling. And for those of you not in the know, Kurt Angle's girlfriend, the one he is stalking and the one that called the cops on him is none other than Rhaka Khan. No joke.

Matt Morgan and AJ Styles will meet up in the third of their best of three series where the winner will advance to Hard Justice to compete in a three way watch with Kurt Angle and Sting for the TNA Heavyweight Title.

In a fourway knockouts match it will be Tara vs ODB vs Awesome Kong vs Angelina Love

Diva Du Jour for Monday 08-10-2009

That's right Chyna! Sure since she left pro-wrestling back in 2001 she's been a bit controversial. There was that whole breakdown thing on The Surreal Life, the sex tape with Sean Waltman, and various rumors of her drug use and being in and out of rehab. But I don't think any of that should take away for what Chyna meant to wrestling. She was one of the first truly strong women of the ring. She didn't just stand by and fuss and moan when her man got beat up. Instead Chyna got in the ring with the men and kicked their ass like one of the boys. Is she going to be a hall of famer soemday? I seriously doubt it but from a history stand point she's got my vote. First woman to enter the Royal Rumble. Then she was the first woman to do it twice. First woman Intercontinental Champion. And of course, the first lady of Degeneration X. These days for tough wrestling ladies you get ODB and Beth Phoenix. Sure they're all tough in their own way but if we're talking just badass ladies, that's about the list. At least the list as far as I can name it now. You can feel free to comment and correct me if you feel I am wrong. For my money Chyna's accomplishments in the ring should not be overshadowed by controversy out of it.

WWE releases Ricky Ortiz

As of 2 days ago (August 8) WWE has relased Ricky Ortiz. Personally if this is a creative decision, it's their own fault. Ortiz is charismatic, he's got the look, he's got the ability face it he just has that "it" factor. He was their top star on ECW and they buried him to put over who I think to be quite a boring superstar Jack Swagger. Ortiz never quite recovered creatively after that initial loss to Swagger. I think TNA or ROH or any promotion would be very lucky to get the talents of this young man.

No I didn't die. I am back and ready to resume my self-appointed role of wrestling blogger. I recently had to move and I've been under the weather, coupled with the recent demise of my computer (having to share one now) it has made blogging next to impossible for me. But the first opportunity I get to get a new computer I shall and then there will be many more blogs to come. Lots of things to look forward to this week.

Random thoughts

There's all sorts of news and rumors going around the internet and I just thought I'd weigh in with my couple of cents.

Let's talk about Jeff Hardy.

Some websites are reporting that he is done with the WWE. Some sites have even reported that he might be headed back to TNA. Some have said that he is just going to take some time off following Night of Champions and that is why he is helping to make CM Punk look so good (personally I don't think Punk needs the help, he's awesome already) but at the same time it's the same reason that John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler have been getting a major push. I don't know what is going on with Mr. Hardy but I do hope that whatever it is that he will be happy and healthy with whatever he chooses to do. I know the storyline regarding his "choices" has been a little controversial (I actually liked the speech Punk gave him regarding how many times he had been to a rehab facility) but it is all entertaining and obviously Jeff would not consent to their use of it if he did not approve.

On my Night of Champions predictions I listed that i did not think any championships would change hands. This was difficult for me because I feel like so many of these matches could use another month to really push the story before the titles change hands or end the feuds. Some matches were impossible for me to pick a winner (Ziggler/Mysterio for one). I think this has the potential to be the WWE's show of the year and definitely not one to be missed.

But I'm sure everybody else has their opinions. What's yours?

Baby on Board

It has been confirmed on many websites that the reason Beth Phoenix has been taken off of television is that her and her husband, Joey Knight, are expecting a child.

She has apparently been given a year off for this reason but she is expected to be out a year and a half, at least according to several websites so take that for what it might (or might not) be worth.

It will be interesting to see what happens when (and if?) she makes her return.

Championship Match Tonight on IMPACT?

On a personal note

I'd just like to say I know it seems I don't blog much and honestly it's not because I don't want to. I'm always trying to think of ways to make this blog better each and every day. It's not always easy because I'd like to report on news and things that happen but so much happens in such a short amount of time it's not always easy for me to stay on top of things but this is something I'd like to change. But at the same time I don't want to just be an information source either because you could get the news from anywhere, I want to give you something original. I will bring back the Diva Du Jour coming up this week but what I would really love is for you guys to start sending me some e-mails, leaving me comments, sending me some wrestling content. I don't care what it is, if it is wrestling related (and within good taste) I will post it here I will give you full credit however you wish to be identified. I will answer your questions, I will address both fan and hate mail whenever you, my fans whom I'm thankful to have, start sending it in. I noticed we have a bunch of new followers both on Twitter and on Blogged.com and I'd like to say hello and welcome to you all, I'm glad you're reading my blogs. Feel free to introduce yourselves. Basically you can go and you can "demand" an artist, or an event or what have you, come to your city or your state and you can basically let these artists know that there is interest in them peforming where you live. I come from a very small town in Maine and almost nothing comes here ever so this is a great way for me and other people in my state to show support. So if you live in a state that never gets any good wrestling (or concerts, or sports, or whatever) then please visit this site and demand it.

TNA knockout ODB (aka One Dirty Bitch) real name Jessica Kresa. While she's never held gold in TNA she certainly is one of its standout female performers. She's been involved in big time feuds with just about any of the females on the roster (excluding some of the new girls on the block like Tara and Sojo and Daffney). She currently is involved in a storyline as the girlfriend to the god-awful Cody Deaner and I have to wonder if they keep denying her the title and put her in worthless situations like this will she even want to be renewing her contract when it comes up. They have a real marketable talent in ODB and if they don't start treating her a lot better than they do they're going to be hurting when she's gone.

How'd I do? Well I technically got 4 out of 8 right, that makes it 50% I always predict based on what I think will happen next in the given story, and in several cases I guessed wrong. Like in the case of Miz vs Cena I expected The Big Show to show up. In the case of the tag team titles I am not going to count that one overall and just throw it out entirely. Because the match was added at the last minute as an addition and I obviously couldn't have been expected to write something up that quickly. A total of 4 out of 7, is roughly 57%. Not stellar but I've done much worse. See you back here in 2 weeks when TNA presents Victory Road.

On Daffney: “Daffney's got it going on. That's what I think whenever I see her on TV, doing promos, in the ring, etc. Which is my way of saying that she's really hit her stride; everything seems to be coming together simultaneously. I've always thought that anything that's different is good, and man is this chick different. […] Plus, she's read one of my novels like 4 times, and that's a little scary. “

On a mistake he made at an iMPACT taping: “I am a big believer in doing promos that are not heavily scripted. Just a few bullet points and a little emotion, and I'm usually fine. Occasionally, however, these type of promos will yield a verbal faux pas that rolls off the tongue right before you can catch it - you know it's wrong the moment you say it, but by that time, it's too late. For example on an upcoming "Impact" episode, I state that it's been 18 years since I've said "I Quit", which is obviously not correct. I did in fact say those exact words three years ago in a match with Ric Flair. As a matter of fact, to make sure there was no confusion, I repeated the words five times. What I meant to say was that it had been 18 years since I'd tapped out, which is, to the best of my recollection, the truth.”

Foley confirms his opponent for Victory Road: “I hope everyone enjoys the buildup to "Victory Road". I think there is some good stuff between me and Kurt to build up the match I've been dreading.”

Big news for our site

Okay so when I say "big news" sure it's relative. I submitted this blog for approval to a few sites last night to added into different blog directories and one of them wrote me and said I was accepted. A few people have already started following me through their site so I'd like to say thank you and welcome to those new readers. As you can see our Diva Du Jour is none other than Lita herself. People might always remember her for her relationships (on screen and in some cases off screen as well) with Matt Hardy, Kane, and Edge. I will always remember when she won the women's title from Stephanie McMahon with The Rock serving as the special guest referee. I'll always remember about 5 years ago when she and Trish Stratus brought the house down in the main event of RAW with a women's championship match as well. I'll always remember when she made a name for herself alongside a high flyer named Essa Rios. Not to mention her short lived feud with Chyna. They had some awesome matches too. So even though she might be enjoying retirement and has said she won't return to the ring I still thought I would pay her some homage. So Lita, here's to you!

It was reported online today by several sites that Lillian Garcia is giving up the WWE when her contract is up later this year. She posted the following message on her website, here it is in its entirety.

"Hi Everyone,

I hope all of you are doing well! I am writing to address the situation in which WWE is looking for a Female Ring Announcer/Singer. The truth of the matter is that they are looking for someone new because I have given them my notice that I will be leaving at the end of my contract this year. It is with a heavy heart that I have made this decision because WWE has been my family from day one and you, the WWE Universe have always been incredible to me. The fact is that I am getting married later this year and have decided to enter into a new phase of my life but I will truly miss all of you and the WWE tremendously.

I for one will miss Ms. Garcia and wish her the best of luck in her new phase. She was always the third voice (and face) of Monday Night Raw for me (behind JR and The King). And when I play my Smackdown vs Raw game I always play on a RAW stage so Lillian can introduce me. My dad used to joke if he was a wrestler it would be in his contract that Lillian would have to do all his intros.

I am posting this so all my readers (I know you're out there, I can hear you breathing). Can leave some of your memories and thoughts on Lillian, her career and her leaving. Personally I am happy for her but will miss her every Monday Night. I'm sure whoever replaces will be fine but for me it will never be the same.

I thought I'd open the floor right up with a discussion. I'll post a topic and some ideas about said topic. I encourage everyone to reply with their two cents as it were all I ask is that you keep it civil and nobody go after each other on a personal level. I don't think I'm asking too much.

So the topic today is: Chris Benoit. Controversial perhaps but maybe not as much as it was two years ago. Here are some thoughts but feel free to add whatever you want.

- What are some of your favorite Benoit in-ring memories?

- Did his death affect how you will remember him in the ring?

- Do you think Vince will allow his name to be said again on WWE tv? Or likewise show his image?

- Do you think Vince made the right call in that case with the circumstances?

- Will Benoit ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame and if so why or why not?

I was cruising around the internet and was looking for cool wrestling stories to repost and there was a link that said that TAZ would be at Slammiversary tonight. I clicked the link to read the info and the story had been removed. Normally I wouldn't have thought anything about it but TNAWrestlingnews.com usually have their facts right about such things and that is where the link was to take me.

So all you TAZ fans out there might want to keep an eye on the show tonight.

** Abyss, real name Chris Parks (35), recently spoke to The Miami Herald to promote this Sunday’s Slammiversary PPV. Here are some highlights:

-- "When I quit the private sector my W2 read $70,000, in my first year in wrestling, I made about $9,200."

-- "I really enjoyed working with Jeff Hardy and working with Sting for as long as I did. It was a great honor. He's an icon in the ring and a fantastic person out of it. Working with Sting and Hardy was great, but if I had to single out one, it would be A.J. Styles. I thought we had some excellent matches dating back to the Wednesday night pay-per-views. At Lockdown 2005, we main evented, and I thought we had an excellent match. There are a lot of guys out there, but I would say I have to put A.J. up there."

-- “I know I would love to be a contributor writing or as an agent. I think I'm cut out for it as far as being a good communicator or motivator. I think that is one of my fortes. When I retire in eight or 10 years, I want to be more involved in the production, writing and execution of the show.

-- "Critics were talking how we wouldn't be around for four months, let alone a year. Then they said we wouldn't last 16 months or two years, three years. We kept hitting these markers. I knew I was on to something special after I talked to Jeff [Jarrett] and Dixie [Carter]. I just saw how passionate and determined they were to make this thing go. I knew I was on to something good. ** The 2009 edition of TNA Bound For Glory will be held on October 18th at the University Of California's Bren Events Center in Irvine (part of Orange County)

** Jeremy Borash has been talking on-and-off with network execs to get his Spin Cycle web series to air on Spike TV. After viewing the most recent episode, which featured Foley and JB poking fun at Eric Bischoff and Scott Steiner kissing Angelina Love, Dixie Carter is said to be on board with formally pitching the idea to Spike at some point in time. Dixie thought the episode was hilarious and getting the series on Spike would be a way of increasing the depth of their programming without hurting the budget. The internet-exclusive shows produced by Jeremy Borash usually range from 10 to 15 minutes in length and are available on YouTube. Borash hosts the show with four guests and gets them all to answer questions on various subjects both wrestling-related and not. Previous episodes featured footage of Vince Russo sleeping in Mick Foley’s kids‘ bedroom while on the road, and Don West comparing himself to Brad Pitt in Fight Club.

** At the Grand Rapids TNA live show, Kurt Angle squashed the WWE return rumors. Angle announced that he loves TNA, wants to extend his contract with the company and that he will never return to the WWE again. He said he never wants to work for Vince McMahon again, despite his recent radio appearance where he said he could return to WWE if he wanted to, since his TNA contract is about to expire and he did not burn any bridges in WWE when he left.

Slammiversary 2009

TNA is putting on it's yearly Slammiversary pay per view tonight, it is their 7th year in existence. So I thought I would just weigh in with my thoughts as to who I think will walk out the winners and in some cases why I think it. I'm not some insider and these are just my opinions no different than anyone else. King of the Mountain Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship:
Mick Foley (c) vs Jeff Jarrett vs AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe

Winner: Mick Foley
Notes: I think it will come down to Foley and Jarrett and Eric Young will make an appearance to cost Jarrett the title further pushing this feud. It'll keep Foley busy for another month until his next defense. I'm looking for Foley vs Sting at Bound For Glory.

X-Division King of the Mountain Match for the X-Division Championship
Suicide (c) vs Jay Lethal vs Consequences Creed vs Alex Shelley vs Chris Sabin

Winner: Suicide
Notes: I think the infighting between the four challengers will be enough for the mysterious Suicide to retain his title

TNA Tag Team Title Match
Team 3D (c) vs Beer Money

Winner: Team 3D
Notes: I think British Invasion will make an appearance leading to a triple threat match for the belts next month

TNA Knockout's Championship Match
Angelina Love (c) vs Tara

Winner: Angelina Love
Notes: I think the numbers game might be too much to overcome this time and where Tara just joined the company I don't see them giving the belt to her so soon.

Shane Douglas vs Christopher Daniels

Winner: Daniels
Notes: Daniels just got back so I don't see him leaving again so quickly and there have been reports that Douglas hasn't signed a contract so to have him take Daniels out and then just turn around and leave himself a couple weeks later wouldn't make any sense.

Eric Young and Rhino vs British Invasion (Doug Williams & Brutus Magnus)

Winner: British Invasion
Notes: Established tag team and it'll be a good excuse for EY to lose his mind again

Matt Morgan vs Sting

Winner: Sting
Notes: Have flip flopped on this one quite a bit. I'm very happy to see the deserving Morgan get his main event push, I just hope they follow through. Sting has said that Bound For Glory will be his last night in pro-wrestling. So maybe someday Morgan will be in the mafia but for now I think the Stinger will hold on.

Mixed Tag Monster's Ball
Raven/Daffney vs Abyss/Taylor Wilde

Winner: Raven/Daffney
Notes: He has seemed to always have Abyss' number in the past and I think this would be a great way to push this fued even further building to the eventual one on one
